Installation

  1. Connect the circuits to the Normally Closed contact or the Normally Open contact as needed. The contacts can be wired in series. When the rope is properly tensioned and the operating ring is extended as shown in Figure 1, both contacts are "Closed". If the rope is released, the normally open contact opens. If the rope is pulled, the normally closed contact opens. Either action transfers the contacts.
  2. Mount the switch using washers under the switch mounting fasteners (not supplied) to prevent the fasteners from pulling through the switch mounting holes.
  3. The head of the switch can be rotated in 4 x 90 degree steps allowing 4 different rope pull positions. To rotate the head remove the 4 head attachment screws, rotate the head into the proper position and reinsert the head attachment screws.
Head Screw Tightening Torque = 7 inch lb. (0.8 Nm)
  4. Rope tensioning (see Figure 1):
The rope is properly tensioned when the activating rod is extended approximately
5/32" (4 mm) - see Figure 1. Once the activating rod is positioned the Automatic version automatically closes the Normally Open contact. To close the Normally Open contact in the Manual version, pull out the "Reset" knob.
  5. The contacts open if the tensioned activating rope is either cut or pulled. To reset the switch reset the rope tension as described in Item 4.
  6. Do not use the switch as a mechanical stop.
  7. Verify proper operation of the Rope Pull Switch before placing the machine in service.
