Key Operated with Manual Mechanical Delay
Metal and Non Metallic Holdings

Advance Controls’ Key Operated Manual Mechanical Delay Safety Switches utilize manual mechanical delay removal feature and a stainless steel key to provide a positive means of turning the control power "Off" should an access panel, door, gate, guard, etc., be opened. This switch is used to protect areas where a hazardous condition remains for a time even after turning the machine control "Off". Equipment with large mechanical inertia, high temperatures or other areas that cannot be immediately entered are prime candidates for this Safety Switch. The Manual Mechanical Delay denies access to the protected area until the operator mechanically rotates the thumb wheel approximately 20 turns (20 seconds) to release the key. Turning the thumb wheel clockwise from “locked” to “release” position enables the key to be removed from the switch. Removing the key mechanically forces the normally closed safety contact open turning “Off” the machine's control power. To re-establish the protected area, close the gate or door and then rotate the thumb wheel counter-clockwise to the end of the travel. The switch will then be in the "locked" position. The safety switch contacts close only when the key is installed in the switch and the thumb wheel rotated to the "locked" position. The machine cannot be restarted until the door, gate, guard, etc., is closed, the thumb wheel rotated to the "locked" position and the "safe" area re-established. Do not rotate the thumb wheel if the key has been removed.

Normal mechanical delay is 20 seconds (20 turns) Other delay times are available. Consult factory.
